I am honoured to make my first blog post about the splendid granola muesli cereal from Crownfield, simply called "FRUIT Crunchy Muesli" (or FRUTA Muesli Crujiente like it says here on the box).
I have been living in Spain for some time now and I have been enjoying the granola options that are available to me here at my local supermercados. A common pick for me when I´m in the mood for some comfort food or I just want something tasty in the morning before I rush off to work; are most definitely the Crownfield options.
Now after doing some investigating about the Crownfield cereal brand, and about LIDL (the market where I buy this cereal) it would seem to me that Crownfield is the in-store brand for the German-born LIDL grocers. They do have quite the variety of cereals, but of course we will stick to reviewing the granola based ones. Above is a shot I took of the box, which simply displays the cereal´s name and the food itself only slightly garnished with the fruit beside it and a crisp green background. The dried fruit includes banana, apple, coconut slices, and raisins. Below is a close-up of the cereal itself.
Here you can see that the granola chunks are fair sized and crunchy and the dried fruit pieces are also well sized. You will have a mouthful of every part of this breakfast. Below I will provide an extreme closeup.
There is of course a strong taste of milk-rehydrated fruits but I must describe the overall taste of the granola nuggets as well. I am not a big fan of sweet foods. I cannot stomach a lot of sugary snacks and desserts. Of course there are excpetions (mostly peanut butters and granolas) but I always try to avoid overl sweetend products in general. It is for that reason I´m not really a big fan of other breakfast cereals. They are just sugar. Having said all this, I must reiterate that granola is a bit of an excpetion. I like a bit of sweetness. A bit. Preferably naturally flavoured when possible, using honey for example. This Crownfield option is not naturally flavoured other than the fruit, but it´s not too sweet or sugary for me either. It´s not frosted flake. There is just enough sweet kick in the crunchy nugget to compliment the dry fruits and they go together nicely. Not to mention the decent amount of fiber within this cereal. Being and Spain and living on the local cuisine I can say the spanish diet, while deliscious, is not very fiber heavy. Eating this cereal in the morning really does help me out in that regard.
If you have a local LIDL in your neighbourhood, town, or city, I highly recommend picking up a box or two of Crownfield´s FRUIT Crunchy Muesli or the other granola options availbale which we will discuss in the near future.
That looks delicious!
